Re-Draft Writing Competition for Teenagers

Vision Statement

Goals

By building the longest-running and most well-known writing competition for Aotearoa New Zealand teenagers, we aim to:

  • foster a desire in teenagers to participate in the creative arts

  • create a community of teenage writers who respect and support each other

  • set teenagers on a path to becoming confident and skilful communicators

  • give teenagers an opportunity to create an impact on the world

What are Re-Draft’s unique features that create benefit?

  • Results are not a flat ‘yes’ or ‘no’. Instead, Re-Draft offers editing consultations to help writers bring their entries up to an even higher, publishable standard.

  • Any genre is accepted, even newly invented ones.

  • 80 to 90 winners each year.

  • Publication in a high quality, collectable book is the prize. Winners receive a complimentary copy.

  • The Re-Draft books bring national attention to a large number of skilled, teenage writers and their interests and concerns.

  • The Re-Draft books have high production values and are treasured as long-lasting family trophies.

  • The Re-Draft books make inspiring and entertaining reading for both teenagers and adults.
